Liability insurance news - Diversifying agricultural industry needs to look at public liability cover
An increasingly diversified agricultural industry has been advised that it needs to consider its liability insurance needs.
Uncertain trading conditions mean that many agricultural businesses are expanding their portfolios to include the leisure and holiday markets - inevitably this means reassessing liability insurance requirements.
Phil Grace, Liability Risk Manager at Aviva, comments, "The sector continues to develop and is moving from traditional bed-and-breakfasts and retail, to sports and recreation, resulting in increases in the nature of the risks, in addition to the number and type of people exposed to them."
Grace stated his belief that these diversifying businesses would have to be careful about choosing the right liability insurance packages while continuing to keep insurers informed of their ongoing needs. "It is vital that your broker and insurer have a clear idea of what you do, and that you update them with any changes. For example, if you decide to offer a service such as bed-and-breakfast, shooting, or recreational quad-biking, as this may affect your premium," he said.
